The first modest stall was at Sardar Garden. It was an initiative by Sopanbhai Sane, along with sister Mirabai Sane & her late husband. Currently, Mahakali SevsarCenter is located near Kirti Stambh, close to the polo ground. The dish gained popularity by its electric taste and is one of the most appreciated dishes of Vadodara. 

2. Fafda ne Jalebi: Baroda ne ena Fafda Jalebi- When in the city, make sure you try Ratri Bazar’s fafda-jalebi. FromMayur Fafda vala at Nizampura or Mishri Sweets at Akshar Chowk- Be a Jethalal & go get’em all.

4. RimJim Sandwich: When looked upon, Surat’s Udhanadarwja seemed to be the center where this three-layeredsandwich is available in every second corner. From Jay Ambe Sandwich to Mahalaxmi, you name it & they have it. The best we found is  Mahalaxmi Sandwich.

The USP of this sandwich is that the bread is roundinstead of the traditional square shape. The first layer is of the famous green chutney and butter. The second and third layers have mayo, chutney, and a filling made up of an amalgamation of different veggies. Cheese is omnipresent in all three slices. The filled layers are stacked above each other, followed by the layer of chutney. After another layer of cheese on the top, the sandwich is baked. It is a must if you are roaming around the city.

5. Bhungra Bataka

Originally from Kutch& available in almost all the cities, the dish is more famous in Rajkotalong with the authentic dishes of Saurashtra. Rajkot brings it into the frame through the variations of different spices, sometimes cheese, making it a specialty of the city.

 It would be unfair to mention Kutch only for one of its delicacies. However, Dabeli is the authentic street food of Kutch, alongside its white land, handcraft, wildlife, and heritage. It is a beautiful combination of buns with smooth spicy sweet potato filling. The history flows long back when in the 1960s, Mohsin Ali of Mandvi, Kutch started selling Dabeli in his small shop, which is now the name and dish of every household in Gujarat. The places to visit for mouth-watering street food are Bin Harif Dabeli in Gandhidham, Mandvi street stall in Mandvi & Bansuri Dabeli to name a few.

8. Choice na pizza:

Not domino’s, not Uncle Sam’s, Ahmedabad is known for its famous, Bakhri pizza. The traditional wheat flour flatbread (Bhakri), as a pizza base with sauce, veggies, and cheese, sets it apart. Every amdavadi outside amdavad undoubtedly misses the authentic traditional pizza of Ahmedabad. 

9. Ragda Patties:

When in Ahmedabad, one must visit MANEK CHOWK. Alongside other dishes, you should not miss its vibrant Ragda patties. Jagdish Chaat at Law Garden, & Shivani Ragda patties are the places that bring water into your mouth by just their names. Famous amongst the locals, the dish brings an unfeigned taste combination of potato patty with traditional ragda- thereby making it to the list of top 10 street food dishes of Ahmedabad. 

10. Pani puri: 

Teekhi, meethi, khati, jeera vadi, moti, nani, nylon, sooji- You name it and they have it. We saved the best for the last. Ahmedabad has the best vendors for pani-puri, who not only serve the taste but also the variations that are loved by the foodies there. Amongst the hundredsof amazing pani stalls we have in Ahmedabad; one must visit Agrawal’s pakodi center at Law Garden; stating that you are a fan of teekhi pani puri. Another one making its pakodi stand out is Laxmi pakodi center again at Ankur, which is serving the largest pakodi in Ahmedabad to date. They came up with another franchise as well at Shivranjini recently.
